Motherhood is a Crucible
I am so grateful that we finally had a break in the weather. It was 100-110 degrees recently. And today it was 90 degrees. Woohoo! Enduring 100+ degree heat made sitting in 90 degrees seem so much cooler, even a pleasure.
That’s how it is with being a mom and having the Mommy Advantage. You can experience the intensity of being a mom: juggling children, relationships, household, money, mission, and more. It will seem hot, intense, and exhausting but in the heat of that experience, you grow and expand. You learn how to handle your life because your little ones are counting on you to do so. So you do it. It’s not always pretty with a bow on top, but it gets done. And you realize you CAN do it. Those intense experiences of motherhood are exactly what equip you to handle regular challenges as if they were nothing.
Today make it a point to remember your Mommy Advantage and appreciate all the stressors, I mean blessings in disguise, that you are getting as a result of raising your kids while simultaneously going after your goals and dreams. Yes, it’s a lot of pressure. I call it a crucible.
As I say in my #1 best selling book, The Mommy Advantage: How Having Kids Can Make You Happier, Healther and Wealthier, motherhood is not a shortcut. It’s a crucible. When we learn to enjoy and be grateful for that crucible, for all that pressure and heat and intensity that we experience on a regular basis because we are mothers, probably more often than we’d like, then it makes regular, every day challenges so much easier. Learn to smile in the fray, appreciate what you have, depend on God, and enjoy the growth that the difficult times give you.
